The EM-RP P Scales Training Pack

The EM-RP materials have been developed to aid schools and LEAs in supporting the process of using the P scales.

The resource pack is designed to be flexible in its use. It is hoped you create a 'pick and mix' selection to suit your own needs - for example there are powerpoint presentations (with trainers' notes), handouts, workshop activities, pupil evidence samples from P1i to P8 (these include video clips, photographs, moderation and observation annotations).

These materials may help to, for example:

The materials have 5 main sections:

  1. Introduction and overview
  2. Assessment and target setting
  3. Moderation and Portfolios
  4. Pupil Evidence – this contains video clips and written materials that can be used as a starting point for moderation purposes
  5. Appendices – copy of the latest P scales for all subjects

Each section comprises training materials in the form of PowerPoint presentations, trainers' notes and handouts. All documents are in electronic format (either Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt) or Word (.doc) documents). Click on the link below to view the contents of the pack and download samples.

The contents of this pack may be used to complement the materials produced by QCA – 'Using the P scales' (Order Ref: QCA/05/1589 email: orderline@qca.org.uk)

At the time of the project, the East Midlands Regional Partnership (EM-RP) was known as East Midlands SEN Regional Partnership (EMSEN) and The University of Northampton was known as University College Northampton (UCN). The website has been designed to reflect the name-changes but downloadable project materials still carry EMSEN and UCN logos.

The content of this site mainly reflects the practice within the East Midlands region. Information on the site was accurate at the time of launch, but will remain unmanaged until further notice.

The P Scales are differentiated assessment criteria, devised and regulated by QCA. The content and views expressed in these materials may not reflect the views of QCA. For further information about the P Scales, please visit the QCA website.
